What to Expect

The goal at Critical Kitsune is to help you write the best you can.  We're not overly concerned with where your commas are.  We are overly concerned with your continuity, red herrings, and your inability to throw away your garbage because you think it's the best hot garbage ever.

We charge a flat rate because, until we're done, we won't stop working on your piece.  Even if we're not sitting directly in front of it, we will be thinking about it and thinking about how to make it the best.  You may get email from us at 3AM and you may get email from us at 10PM.  Odds are you will need to drink something strong through the early drafts and you will need to learn to not send emotion-filled emails off the cuff.  However, if you do respond stupidly, we are pretty good about taking it in stride.  We will wait for you to vent and then we will get back to business.  You'll probably warm to us eventually and then you'll be glad you did once you go back and read what you wrote Before Critical Kitsune and realize how terrible it was.

You may have noticed we're cocky.  Expect that as well.

Not all paths are the same for every writer.  There might be times we give you a task but we won't tell you how to get to it.  That's because you will need to figure it out on your own so that you figure out the best path for yourself.  We will know you only via email.  That is not enough for us to dictate to you how to go about doing things.  All we can do for you is give you what the end result needs to be and some very basic guidelines about how to reach it.

Lazy writing pisses us off and you will learn pretty quickly what constitutes lazy writing.

You will be expected to work.  You're paying us to make you a good writer.  That is our goal.  Much like a personal trainer who will tell you to do more sit-ups, we will make you do more writing.

We take what we do very seriously.  If you've gotten to the point where you're willing to pay someone to help you perfect your craft, we expect you to take it just as seriously.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments or use the contact form on the right.
